Nottingham Youth Jazz Orchestra

Want to play Jazz? The Nottingham Youth Jazz Orchestra is a great place for young musicians in Nottinghamshire to develop their skills and enjoyment of playing jazz.

With an emphasis on rehearsing for performances, the 18-piece NYJO Big Band, 7+ Piece NYJO Jazz Combo and NYJO2 Development Band entertain audiences at public concerts and private functions in the area.

Established in 2008, NYJO meet for weekly rehearsals during education term time at the Becket School in West Bridgford.  Experienced jazz tutors provide high quality, inspirational instruction and encourage shared learning and support amongst players.  The band's terrific sound, enthusiasm and professional approach to performances have been highly rated by appreciative audiences, gig organisers and judges at national competitions.

If you are interested in joining as a musician, why not contact us and sit in on a rehearsal. There's development band NYJO2 (approx Grade 4+), the NYJO Big Band, the NYJO Jazz Combo 8-piece (both approx. Grade 6+).
