Christopher Hoggarth

Christopher has been Conductor of Nottingham Youth Intermediate Orchestra since the summer of 2013 and has conducted with the Senior Orchestra on tour to Vienna, Jersey, and Amsterdam.

Christopher studied Music as an Undergraduate and Postgraduate at the University of Nottingham, where he conducted the University Orchestras, including their 2011 tour to Italy. He gained the University's Performance Award for three consecutive years.

Outside of NYO Christopher conducts a variety of ensembles and choirs, and was Musical Director of Long Eaton Operatic Society for their productions of  The Wizard of Oz Me and My Girl  and  The Hired Man . In rehearsal he has conducted Nottingham Symphony Orchestra, York Symphony Orchestra and Nottingham Wind Ensemble, and has studied with Jonathan Tilbrook, Mark Heron, and in a masterclass with Colin Metters.

Christopher's main instrument is the flute, and he has performed regularly as a soloist and as an orchestral player. He holds the LRSM for Flute Performance. He also performs as a piano accompanist and has studied the violin, voice, and percussion, also taking the Grade 1 trombone exam for charity.
